Christopher Thomas Scott
Stanford University Program on Stem Cells in Society

Chris Scott is Director of the Stanford University Program on Stem Cells in Society, a senior research scholar in the Center for Biomedical Ethics and associate fellow at King’s College, London. He teaches courses on stem cell biology, policy and ethics. His research interests focus on the social, economic, political and ethical dimensions of regenerative medicine. His new book, Stem Cell Now: An Introduction to the Coming Medical Revolution (2007 Plume/Penguin) clearly explains the science, ethics and politics of stem cell research.
Formerly the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Research at the University of California, San Francisco, Scott has co-founded life sciences companies and has served tours of duty as an executive in both industry and academia, including senior management positions at Stanford University.
He publishes widely on an array of life sciences topics, and is featured in national media coverage of regenerative medicine and other science issues, including ABC, Time, U.S. News, USA Today, Boston Globe, The Atlantic Monthly, NPR’s Fresh Air, Talk of the Nation, and TechNation; KQED’s Perspectives and Forum; PBS The News Hour, Front Line, UPI and Fox News.
